Caring for your harp
Take common sense precautions in order to receive the highest return on your investment. Play your harp often, but treat it with love and respect. Normal room temperatures are best for your harp. Because of the adverse effects of excess moisture or dryness, keep your harp away from such sources. Avoid placing it near a window, fireplace or air conditioner. It is recommended the harp reside in it’s carry case when not in use.
Cleaning
Honey or Cherry harps with a gloss finish are able to be cleaned with a warm, damp cloth and a small amount of dishwashing detergent or diluted methylated spirits. It is imperative to not get the harp wet. Use a slightly damp cloth only and ensure the damp cloth does not come into contact with any part of the pin block.
Pearl harps with a matte finish are able to be cleaned in the same way as harps with a gloss finish. However, the cloth should be only slightly damp. Ensure you wipe down the harp with a dry cloth afterwards.
Tuning
Tuning should be done by an adult or under adult supervision. It is recommended that tuning be completed with the aid of a tuning device and not merely by ear.
